Have you ever read the story “The Three Little Pigs”? Well, from what I remember and from what I found now, there must be many different versions of the story. In this version, we learn the pigs’ names and what they’re like. I do not remember that at all in the stories I heard when I was little. In the version that I found online, the narrator who I believe is the mother, describes each of the pigs to us. First we have Browny, the oldest. Browny was a pig that loved nothing more then playing in the mud. Then we learn about Whitey. She is a clever but sometimes too greedy pig. Finally, the youngest and best looking is Blackey. Blackey was a nice pig with beautiful skin. Her skin was compared to being similar to Black Saton. This part of the story was never told to me when I was a little boy, it does not make too much difference but it is still kind of interesting, don’t you think?

Woah! Let’s think about this. Any sortof cultural stereotypes you can read into these pig names? Brownie, Whitey, Blackie? I can’t believe this is in the story. Go ahead, think about racial stereotypes and draw some conclusions!
